The parties emphasised the danger of glacier melting in Central Asia, especially in light of the impact of climate change on water resources in the region. At the same time, aspects of potential joint co-operation for monitoring glacier melt, assessing environmental problems and developing adaptation strategies for local communities that depend on glacial lake systems were considered.
