Political consultations between Türkiye and Malta will be held on 16 October 2023 in Ankara under the chairmanship of H.E. Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Christopher Cutajar, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta.

 

 

 

During the consultations, all aspects of bilateral relations, Türkiye-EU relations as well as current regional and international matters will be discussed.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) committed a historical mistake through adopting the recommendation and resolution regarding Türkiye on 12 October 2023.

 

 

 

With this initiative, PACE is instrumentalizing judicial processes for politics and attempting to close the channels of dialogue. This is against the democratic values that constitute the reason for the existence of the PACE.

This irresponsibility of the PACE aimed at gaining visibility will be remembered with remorse in the future.

 

 

 

 

Türkiye, which is a founding member of the Council of Europe, regrets that the organization’s advisory body PACE has moved so far away from its objectives and values.

We are deeply saddened by the 6.2 strong earthquake yesterday (7 October) in Herat Province of Afghanistan, resulting in more than 200 loss of life and 1000 injuries.

 

 

 

 

We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and convey our condolences to the friendly and brotherly people of Afghanistan and wish swift recovery to the injured.

 

 

 

Türkiye, as always, is ready to provide every support for recovery efforts for our Afghan brothers.
