On October 6, 2023, in Baku, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilhom Abdurahmon met with the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Emin Amrullayev.

 

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the current state and strengthening of cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan in the field of education and science were reviewed, as well as the process of its expansion by increasing the number of students through exchange programs, scholarships and activating the consultative mechanism between ministries of education and science of the two countries were discussed.

 

 

 

 

At the same time, the parties assessed the level of mutual cooperation between the ministries as satisfactory and called for expanding further cooperation.

On 21 September 2023, on the margins of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Informal Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

 

 

 

 

During his speech, Minister Muhriddin noted that throughout the period of its existence, CICA has proved itself as an effective and promising mechanism of multidimensional collaboration, facilitating confidence building measures, good neighborliness and constructive approaches to address contemporary challenges.

 

 

 

 

The Minister also emphasized the importance of Tajikistan’s global initiatives in the field of water and climate and invited CICA member states to take an active part in the Third High-Level Conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” to held in Dushanbe in June 2024.

On 21 September 2023, on the margins of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the Summit of the Future.

 

 

 

In his statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the Summit of the Future is a unique chance to intensify cooperation in solving contemporary challenges and reaffirming the commitments of member states, including on the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin also addressed issues of environment, water and climate and emphasized the significance of Tajikistan’s initiative to declare the Year of Glacier Preservation, 2025 in joining forces to ensure the resilience of societies and economies affected by the rapid melting of glaciers.

On 20 September 2023 in the margins of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the extraordinary meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.

 

 

 

In his speech, Minister Muhriddin highlighted the important role played by regional organizations, including the SCO in reinforcing United Nations efforts in countering the challenges and threats of the modern world.

 

 

 

Minister Muhriddin also emphasized the importance of constant dialogue between the SCO and the UN on the issues of countering the drug threat emanating from the territory of Afghanistan.
