On July 15, 2025, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Qatar were held in Doha, State of Qatar under the leadership of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Farrukh Sharifzoda and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al-Murayhi.

During the consultations, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral and multilateral relations in the political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. It was emphasized that diplomatic ties between the two countries, built on mutual respect and shared interests, continue to strengthen and provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation across various sectors.

Special attention was given to the issue of attracting Qatari investments into Tajikistan’s economy, particularly in infrastructure and energy sectors.

The sides also considered topical issues on the international and regional agenda. On September 19, 2024, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Qatar Nurmurod Mahmadali met with the Minister of Education and Higher Education of this country Buthaina bint Ali Al Nuaimi in Doha.

The meeting discussed the status and prospects of expanding ties between Tajikistan and Qatar in the field of education and higher education, ways to implement the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in this area, as well as allocating educational quotas.

In connection with the agreement between the Leaders of the two countries, the sides agreed to establish a Center for Foreign Languages in Tajikistan.

On June 5, 2024, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Qatar, Nurmurod Mahmadali, presented a copy of his credentials to the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sultan bin Saad al-Muraihi.

After the ceremony of presenting of credentials, the Ambassador held a meeting with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, where issues of implementing the results of high-level negotiations between Tajikistan and Qatar were discussed, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation in various areas, including the opening of direct flights between the cities of Dushanbe and Doha.

During the meeting, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs wished success to the Ambassador of Tajikistan in his future diplomatic missions and emphasized readiness to expand bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Qatar in various directions.

During the meeting, the state and prospects of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Qatar, issues of further strengthening the legal framework and ways to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment were discussed.
